Originally, Jane and Ruth were each dealing in French painted furniture, furnishings and lifestyle products, scouring the world famous markets and brocantes of France until their cars became too full to sleep in! Having sourced an artisanal triple-milled Marseilles soap they formed a partnership with the aim of finding other luxury products with a similar heritage.
Over the years they have expanded the Branche d'Olive brand into a range of elegantly packaged life style accessories, home fragrances, bath and body products seeking always the quality and authenticity which is at the heart of craftmanship. Recent additions are: a draining heart shaped soap dish (exactly matched by the Muguet/Lily of the Valley heart shaped soap) and a draining tooth brush holder. The reformulated Rose Bath Lotion and Olive Exfoliant are well established, but the men’s range has frustratingly had to be delayed. The shampoo/shower lotion and the shaving cream are in manufacture as is the wonderful galet-shaped (irregular pebble) marble soap, but there has been a delay on the shaving cream lid. Launch is now expected in March – it will be well worth the wait.
Having outgrown their kitchen tables, the pair now operate the business from premises near Oxford. With full time staff, they fulfil orders for 300 stockists nationwide including Liberty, Fortnum & Mason, Blenheim Palace, Burford GC and Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons with whom 2014 has seen an exciting collaboration: the design and production of a cross promotional Limited Edition Boxed Candle to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It comprised 4 votive candles, each reflecting a season with culinary notes, further cementing Branche d'Olive as a premium luxury brand, referencing French heritage with a commitment to offering only the finest quality. In the process, the Two Ronnies’ ‘Fork ‘andle’ joke was somewhat overused! Their own Branche d'Olive version of this product was shortlisted for the 2015 Gift of the Year.
