Originally, Jane and Ruth were each dealing in French painted furniture, furnishings and lifestyle products, scouring the world famous markets and brocantes of France until their cars became too full to sleep in! Having sourced an artisanal triple-milled Marseilles soap they formed a partnership with the aim of finding other luxury products with a similar heritage.
Over the years they have expanded the Branche d'Olive brand into a range of elegantly packaged life style accessories, home fragrances, bath and body products seeking always the quality and authenticity which is at the heart of craftmanship. A recent addition - a Christmas candle: Orange with Spices - is made from hand poured eco soya and comes in both tumbler and votive sizes. 2014 will see the re-formulation of the olive hand and body exfoliant (scrub) as well as the introduction of Branche d'Olive's men's range in Garrigue (citrus cologne).
Having outgrown their kitchen tables, the pair now operate the business from premises near Oxford. With full time staff, they fulfil orders for 300 stockists nationwide including Liberty, Fortnum & Mason, Blenheim Palace, Burford GC and Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons. A small retail area allows sales of the full product range as well as special offers, end of lines, seconds etc. A burgeoning export business is taking shape with increasing sales to India, Greece and Australia. 2013 has also seen Branche d'Olive move into the world of FaceBook, Twitter and Pinterest.
Next season's retail fairs will be: Hampton Court RHS, Spirit of Summer, the Blenheim Game Fair, The Country Life Fair (Fulham Palace 27-28 September) Asthma Gift Fair (Hurlingham 15-16 October) Spirit of Christmas (Olympia 4-9 November) and Injured Jockeys (Newbury Race Course 18-19 November). Next season's trade fairs start in January with Top Drawer (Olympia 12-14 January) followed by Spring Fair (Birmingham 2-6 February) and Autumn Top Drawer (Olympia 14-16 September).
Twice a year, Charity Weeks are held at the Branche d'Olive warehouse with 10% of all retail sales going to charity. Last year’s Christmas Charity Week resulted in £300 donation to Multiple Sclerosis Research.
